Rose of Sharon - A symbol of hope and love

Rose of Sharon

The Rose of Sharon Women’s Home, a refuge home for distressed women, is named in honor of the late Sharon Marie Benson-Lewis. Sharon is the loving sister of Pastor Aldridge, the founder of In His Hands Global Ministries and the sponsor of the home. Sharon Benson-Lewis had a passion to help people, particularly those who were victimized by society’s ills and woes. Her passion to see the lives of people changed led her to major in sociology with a focus in criminal justice/criminal behavior. She completed her bachelor's and master's-level studies at Illinois State University, where she wrote her thesis focusing on “ex-offender recidivism reduction.”

As a significant phase of her studies, she completed internships at the Pontiac Correctional Facility for men and the Dwight Correctional Facility for women. Sharon’s primary hope and vision were to identify society’s role and contribution to the process of creating criminals and finally to propose a strategy or plan that society should adopt that would foster behavior changes in the minds and lives of criminals.

Sharon Marie Benson Lewis spent a major part of the remainder of her life working as the executive director of a nonprofit organization that was purposed to redevelop the economically disenfranchised Westside communities of Chicago.

Sharon dedicated her life to giving of herself and resources to help others to blossom to their own full and divine potential. All who knew Sharon loved this rare, sweet, and gentle-spirited woman of God. A rose, she truly exemplified, right after the image of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the Rose of Sharon.

Join Our Mission

The "Rose of Sharon" Women's Home will open its doors soon! This God-centered, loving, and nurturing home will provide a clean and safe haven while the women address any unresolved issues resulting from the physically and/or emotionally traumatic events of their past.

We request your prayers during this process of implementation. If you would like to help or have any information that would be of benefit, please contact us. All proceeds will go toward house supplies, food, and social services.

Community Outreach

Feeding the Hungry

The Apostle James said, suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?" Therefore, my friends, we make every effort to feed those who are hungry, provide shelter and refuge to the homeless, and minister to the physical and spiritual needs of single mothers and all children.

Holiday Miracles 2025

Every year, in partnership with Christ Tabernacle of Love, it is our pleasure to bless the youth of Chicago's West Englewood community.

Year-End Giving 2025

In partnership with Christ Tabernacle of Love, we raised funds to provide beds for the youth in the West Englewood community.
